Line Quality: Mechanical Lines
This line quality is the simplest, most straightforward line quality there is in drawing. This is likely a line quality that you have already used when you aren’t paying attention to how the lines you draw help to convey the meaning and context of your drawing. Mechanical lines are also used in informational drawings, such as blueprints, engineering diagrams, etc. They reveal the form but don’t tell us anything else about the image. Look around you during your day, and you’ll be likely to see mechanical lines on all kinds of things: furniture or appliance assembly instructions, packaging, maps, public transportation information, etc.
